Dr Pepper Snapple donates bus for disabled
Wednesday, August 12, 2009 -

In a direct response to a WFAA television segment on Plano-based My Possibilities, a non-profit dedicated to adults with disabilities; Plano-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group is donating a 15-passenger bus to the organization. The donation will allow My Possibilities to transport its members to physical therapy sessions at Crull Fitness as well as other activities.

My Possibilities is a non-profit, charity for adults with disabilities: Autism, Down Syndrome, Aspergers, Prader-Willi, head injuries and others aliments.
The non-profit is the first full-day, full-year program in Collin County for adults who have aged out of secondary education, where they can build independence and pre-vocational skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

The vehicle will assist in transporting My Possibilities members to Crull Fitness for workouts and other group activities. Instead of making a straight cash donation to My Possibilities, Dr Pepper Snapple leveraged its transportation relationships and secured a bus to donate to the group.

The Plano-based beverage company will maintain the bus free-of-charge for My Possibilities through the fleet shop at the company’s Irving facility.

This donation is an example of ways that companies can creatively leverage corporate resources versus monetary contributions during tough economic times to give back to the community.
