Frisco
Business Crime Prevention
The Frisco Police Department is launching a Business Crime Prevention
Initiative. Businesses make up a significant portion of Frisco and as
part of their community service mission; the department has formulated
the program to partner with the Chamber of Commerce and local business
to help reduce crime.
The plan is to design to reach out to Frisco businesses and address concerns
relating to crime and ways to reduce the risks of victimization. The first
meeting was held on October 1st to learn about ongoing trends the criminal
elements are using, the first being Identity Theft. This is one of the
fastest rising crimes today. Information was given about ways to combat
identity theft from the viewpoint of business.
Future topics will include ways to reduce theft, control of conflict,
alcohol related crimes and other commercial/retail concerns. Future plans
will include an e-mail network to increase up to the minute alerts on
potential crimes and notifying participants of changes in crime trends.
Contact Officer Mike Crawford of the Frisco Police Department’s
Community Services Division at 972-335-5603 x106 for more information.
