Barbara Lane feels there is a story to be told about Collin County.
“I don’t believe there has ever been a book that compiles
the story of Collin County and how it grew,” Lane said. “There’s
really a story there.”
Lane is the project director for the book, The Spirit of Collin
County, that is currently being put together.
“This is an opportunity for people who have businesses here
to tell their story about a person or a business,” Lane explained.
Those who have been a part of the community and contributed to the
county are encouraged to be a part of the book. Businesses or individuals
can purchase one to four pages in the publication that is expected
to be published by the third quarter of 2005.
“This is a very sophisticated way to show what you have done,”
Lane said.
Cyndy Moore and Barry Benton are the two individuals working to
compile the stories and the photos that depict Collin County from
the past, present, and into the future. Moore said as she has been
researching information for the book, she has found a true pioneer
spirit starting with the early roots of settlers laying the ground
work for the communities of today.
