About Inside Business In 1994 the business community of Richardson and Plano had already begun steady growth and that momentum was going to spread to all of Collin County. Jack Bick, former publisher of the Dallas Business Journal and well known for start-ups and turnarounds in the business journal industry, saw the need for a newspaper to keep everyone informed.

And so in the summer of 1994 he began to assemble as staff and they began to publish Inside Collin County Business in November of 1994. The demographics were in favor of the area having its own newspaper. The area was popular for home sites as far back as the 1960's. In about 1988 more jobs were created in the area by the expansion of Texas Instruments, Rockwell-Collins and the addition of EDS. Therefore, not only did the citizens live in the area but also they worked in the area. Most of the people were coming from outside the Metroplex to fill these jobs. The area was becoming a self-contained community despite its proximity to Dallas. Except for professional sports and the some arts performances, everything available in Dallas is now available north of LBJ. Soon even those activities will be available. The newspaper was accepted almost immediately. Then and now, it is the only medium that tells readers what is happening all across the county. As the area progressed there was a need for other forms of information and a need for a variety of ways to market business-to-business. And so the company added to its products.
The company is active in the support of a wide variety of charities and civic projects as well as local festivals throughout the area. The company is well known for its "21 for the 21st Century" leadership recognition program, its leadership/advisory committee forums and it Celebration of Enterprise Awards. The company has received several awards including the SBA Small Business Advocate of the Year Award and recognition for General Excellence by the Texas Community Newspaper Association and Small Business of the year 2000 by the Plano Chamber of Commerce. |
